North Central Co-op is committed to providing it's customers the very best quality in liquid fuels. As a member-owner of Countrymark Co-op, NCC is proud to be part of the cooperative system's privately owned refinery and pipeline system. In 1938 oil was discovered in the "Illinois Basin"--which is much of southern Illinois, southwestern Indiana, and northwestern Kentucky. This oil is a "sweet crude" which is some of the highest quality product found anywhere in the world. To assure a constant, high quality product supply, the cooperative system built a refinery on the Ohio River at Mt. Vernon, Indiana, in 1940. This refinery is small compared to today's standards, yet it's capacity of 23,000 barrels per day is sufficient to supply the needs of the cooperatives which pull from it's four terminals located at Mt. Vernon, Switz City, Jolietville, and Peru, Indiana. The 238 mile pipeline serving these terminals was built in 1953. The diesel fuels and gasolines produced at the refinery are known for their quality and consistancy. For over 60 years now Super Dieselex-4 has been the standard by which all other diesel fuels are compared. It continues to be the premier diesel fuel for customers throughout the Countrymark Co-op trade area of Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. NCC delivers fuel to its farmers, commercial, residential, and business customers with a fleet of 28 trucks (much like the one pictured above) operated by knowledgeable and dedicated employees who take pride in their products and services.
